Imperialism of Egypt

First off what does Imperialism even mean?
Well Imperialism basically means to spread power, control, or rule (whatever you want to call it) from one country to another. In turn that land, now owned by the country that conquered it, may be called as part of that country’s empire.

Second, let’s talk about when Britain occupied Egypt.
This is actually a weird story. Egypt asked for Britain’s help, while Britain is used to having to conquer it. After the death of Muhammad Ali, the great ruler or Egypt, His son and Grandson created a huge national debt trying to create the Suez Canal. The debt encouraged Islam to sell shares of the Canal to Great Britain. The Sultan was unhappy with the choices made by Islam so he gave all of his powers to his son, Tawfik Pasha. A revolution soon began as Egyptian nationalists we’re upset with the government’s foreign control and weaknesses. Tawfik ended up asking Britain for assistance, and like any smart nation they did.
